MT photog Doug Coombe: The (mini) movie

Posted By on Thu, Jun 2, 2011 at 5:20 PM

Self-effacing as he is, Doug Coombe didn't tell us about Turn the Camera Around, a video profile created by Scott Allen (Thunderbirds Are Now!, Big Mess, Arranged Marriage, The Thornbills). It's recommended viewing not just because he's shot so much great stuff for MT over the last decade-and-a-half. It's a look into the life, and over the shoulder, of a hard-working photographer, who's won the trust of musicians to the point, as he puts it, where they ignore him, letting him get up close to the fire of their performances. For more about the art of anticipating the shots, and what you can do with "ghetto" equipment, check it out.
