Dr. Gholz will plug you in now — at DPL

Posted By on Mon, Apr 25, 2011 at 6:16 PM

Longtime Metro Times contributor Carlton Gholz is now Dr. Carlton Gholz, having recently defended his Ph.D. dissertation for the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Communication. The title is a fitting one for one of the co-founders of our Subterraneans column investigating techno, dance culture and the like. That title would be “‘WHERE THE MIX IS PERFECT’: VOICES FROM THE POST-MOTOWN SOUNDSCAPE."

In that vein, Gholz will be delivering a lecture on post-Motown music in Detroit on Wednesday at the Detroit Public Library Main Branch. The lecture, under the auspices of the E. Azalia Hackley Collection, is from 6 to 8 p.m. It's the final installment of a four-lecture series on the full history of music-making in the D.
