There will undoubtedly be numerous benefits to aid the more than 100 residents who lost their homes last week to the fire at Forest Arms Apartments (which also housed People’s Records and Amsterdam Espresso on its ground floor). The first is already planned for this Friday, February 15th, featuring live performances by local performance artist troupe Los Minstrels del Diablo and local band A Stowaway. Also one hand will be DJs milieu, dirty D, Cirque and JOHNb, as well as the resident People’s Records DJs. Sideshow entertainment will include Tim TV and belly dancing by Chantal as well as other performances yet to be announced

The benefit takes place from 7 p.m. through 2 a.m. at the Atwater Block Brewery, 237 Joseph Campau, Detroit. Suggested $5 minimum donation at the door — but the organizers are asking patrons to donate what they can afford. The venue, sound system, and all performances are being donated at no cost, so 100 percent of the funds will go directly to the fire victims.
