Congratulations to the Bloids, the Ann Arbor duo that recently competed in Blender magazine's recent national “Battle of the Bands.” The band actually won the damn thing, with their entered song, "Breakdown Calling,'' receiving more than 5,000 votes. The winning band was awarded a headlining slot at this year’s South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. So come March, the Bloids -- "Mr. Wax'' and the Reverend Robert "Jim'' Jones, plus new additions Steve Stetson and Brian Carney -- will be playing the Blender House: Austin stage in the Lone Star state. "Breakdown Calling'' is scheduled to be released to radio early this year and a video of the song is in the planning stages.
