Coffee and books

Of all the coffeehouses in Ann Arbor, this one may be the most dominated by a student clientele, situated as it is on South University Avenue, the main drag of the student side of town, and in full view of the dramatic West Engineering Arch, gateway to the University of Michigan's Diag. This bright cafe is a favorite space for serious scholars to hide from the distractions of apartment and dorm, and its outdoor tables are popular places to socialize and watch the bustling sidewalk traffic go by. At night, occasional musical performances in the basement lounge spice up the South U. strip.
