You may have heard about the controversy surrounding the release of a movie called The Interview. It stars Seth Rogan and James Franco as the pair attempt to assassinate North Korea's Kim Jong Un with the help of the CIA. Of course, some folks weren't happy about Hollywood making a film that's plot surrounds the assassination of the country's leader. A group that called itself the Guardians of Peace launched some serious hacks and later threatened a terrorist attack if the movie ran in theaters and cinema chains across the country cancelled its release. Sony finally got some independent theaters to screen the movie, and released it on Dec. 25 when it earned nearly $1 million. It was also released on video-on-demand where it's done well.

For folks in Michigan who are itching to catch the comedy in theaters, Emagine Canton will screen the movie for a week starting on Dec. 31. They'll give away approximately 5,000 tickets. The Michigan-based theater asks in that in return for the free tickets, moviegoers donate to The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, a Michigan-based non-profit.

Emagine Canton is located at 39535 Ford Road, Canton Twp.
