America needs Wanda Sykes.

The queer and black comedian, actress, and advocate has grown accustomed to walkouts from Trump supporters during her recent stand-up shows. Thanks to her no-holds-barred stance on the Cheeto-in-Chief, she took no issue walking away from a high-paying writing gig on the reboot of Roseanne after Roseanne Barr tweeted some racist shit and blamed it on her Ambien prescription. A supporter and frequent visitor of Detroit’s Ruth Ellis Center for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth, Sykes is no stranger to the Motor City. This time around, her performance will be filmed for her upcoming Netflix comedy special, due out later this year.

Wanda Sykes will perform on Saturday, Feb. 9, doors open at 6 p.m., performance and filming begin promptly at 8 p.m. at the Music Hall; 350 Madison St., Detroit; 313-887-8500; musichall.org; Tickets start at $54.50, (cell phones are not allowed and guests will be given Yondr pouches to secure their devices.)
