Labor Day has passed and summer in Michigan is unofficially over, but temperatures will be rising at the Detroit Institute of Arts tomorrow evening.

A must-attend end-of-summer event, Hot in Havana promises to bring the sights and sounds of Cuban culture to the DIA. The celebration of Afro-Cuban culture will include music by Sean Blackman, a performance by an Afro-Cuban dance troupe, and DJs who will close out the evening with a playlist of tunes to get you on the dance floor. A ticket to this event gets you access to Cuban culinary stations, passed hors d’oeuvres, and an open bar. Organizers suggest donning “caliente” cocktail attire to accent the evening’s spiciness.

Things will begin heating up tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The DIA is located at 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit. For more info call 313-833-7900 or go to dia.org. Tickets are $150.
