"Welcome to your Ultra Self." No, this isn't a tagline for an unnamed Blade Runner project: It's the theme for Detroit's most mysterious New Year's Eve celebration. Enter the Surrealist Ball, brought to you by the beautiful minds of local party royalty Jon Dones and Ash Nowak, aka Haute to Death, and the historic Schvitz bathhouse. The masquerade-themed soiree is all-inclusive, meaning that everything you could possibly need will be provided and everyone is invited. Glittery, weird, hedonistic costumes are strictly enforced as is Haute to Death's zero tolerance policy when it comes to bigotry, shaming, and other gross behaviors. Music will be provided by Haute to Death, Black Noi$e, and Shigeto Live Ensemble.
Doors open at 8 p.m.; 8295 Oakland St., Detroit; 313-871-9707; h2dsocial.club; Tickets are $60, admission plus Jan. 1 sauna session is $100.
