Lest you've missed the bazillion television commercials subconsciously convincing you your mother wants nothing more than to celebrate her lifelong sacrifice to rear and raise you than by eating at Olive Garden, you may already know that Sunday is Mother's Day.

You may, like us, be horrible offspring that haven't yet purchased the perfect present to let mom know how much you appreciate all those lunches she packed and all those times she picked you up from school and that time she let you act like a total bitch because it was your wedding.

Anyway, don't take your mom to Olive Garden on Sunday.

instead, take her to this vintage base ball game that's also a fundraiser for Alternatives for Girls. The Detroit River Belles play the Ann Arbor Roller Derby Dimes, with the first pitch going out at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.

It's free to attend the match, but donations will be accepted for the charity. Alternatives for Girls helps homeless and high-risk girls ward off violence, teen pregnancy, and exploitation, They also supply support, resources and opportunities to stay safe.

The match takes place at Navin Field, the grounds of the old Tigers Stadium on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Trumbull in Corktown.
