Revolucha, the killer wrestling spectacle, melds Mexican and American styles of pro wrestling to create a monster hybrid of frightening and hilarious masked athleticism. And it’s back for its fourth year, boasting its usual lineup of wrestling superstars from past, present and, possibly, future. There’s even a DVD release — Dia de los Muertos, shot at the Majestic Theatre last year — to coincide.
The event, "Revolucha 4," will see wrestlers from all over the world, a huge crowd and a real stage set. (And with V.I.P. admission, a lucky fan can watch the filming of the next DVD.)
So what can an attendee expect? Well, aside from sweaty man-tit, unsightly body hair and fright-wigged attire, lots. There’s the return of Mexican, American and Japanese legend Ultimo Dragon and the Lucha Libre icon L.A. Park. Ultimo Dragon will face IWR newcomer — and star of both WWE and WCW and former ECW champion — 2 Cold Scorpio, who’s known for his "funky dance moves." L.A. Park will do the deed with CK3 (aka "The Sign of Excellence").
Also, the "King of the Independents" title will be up for grabs when wrestling sensation Jerry Lynn goes up against local talent and IWR vet N8 Mattson. Who’ll win the title? Who will be forever shamed in Royal Oak? Who the hell knows!
At 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Royal Oak Music Theater, 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak; 248-399-2980 for more info. Penelope Bowler is a freelance writer. Send comments to [email protected]
