02 SAT • MUSIC Larry Nozero — In addition to leading a fine group including Buddy Budson on piano and Don Swindell on trumpet, expect this Detroit-scene veteran to play some music with a personal message. The saxophonist and flutist’s latest record, Four for Three (Dominic Records), is a salute to the late Detroit pianist Eddie Russ and his tunes. "Eddie had the ability to refine a melody with just the right notes, not too many, not too few," says Nozero of his partner in the ’70s group Mixed Bag. 02 SAT • MUSIC HANK THOMPSON — We’ve all got time for "one more round" when it comes to Hank Thompson. This reigning king of Western Swing is still in full forward motion and as active as ever. After a litany of accolades that lay in his honky-tonk wake, you’d think that this songwriting icon might opt for a bit a rest. "Rest? I get my best rest on the road!" says Hank.
