For some reason, once again Baltimore-based cult filmmaker John Waters will celebrate his birthday in Detroit. And once again, we are all invited.
Like last year, El Club will host the celebration, but the format will be different. On Saturday, April 21, Waters will perform a live commentary to Serial Mom, followed by a Q&A and a performance by rock band L7.
Then on Sunday, April 22, Waters will be joined by longtime collaborator Mink Sole, and together they will give a live commentary for their 1977 film, Desperate Living followed by a Q&A. Mink Sole is also set to perform with her band.
Waters will turn a sprightly 72. The shows were just announced; see El Club's website and Facebook for more information.
