Here's Johnny — catch 'The Shining' at the Main Art Theatre's midnight madness

Jul 2, 2018 at 2:06 pm

Even if you have memorized every line and shot, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining never gets easier to watch.

Hailed as one of the greatest horror films of all time — though calling it a psychological mind-fuck nightmare might be more fitting — in the 38 years since its release The Shining still shimmers with, well, blood. What better way to relive the nightmare than a midnight showing? If you’ve never seen the Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall classic, grab your favorite cinephile and forgo a peaceful night’s sleep. However, if the adapted Stephen King masterpiece is already a favorite, kick back and settle into quite possibly the most unsettling 146 minutes of celluloid.

The Shining will screen at midnight on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 at the Main Art Theatre 118 N. Main St., Royal Oak; 248-542-5198; landmarktheatres.com; Tickets are $7.
