'FRIENDS! The Musical Parody' heads to Detroit next year

"The one where a sitcom takes over the '90s."

Somehow — despite 10 years of Ross being literally the most toxic, controlling boyfriend ever, a slew of problematic punchlines via Chandler's slight transphobia, and the never-OK "Fat Monica" routine — NBC's Friends has somehow survived as a beloved staple in the annals of pop culture. And now, it has gotten a musical makeover.

The off-Broadway misadventure FRIENDS! The Musical Parody delivers a fast-paced, music-filled romp through the series' most iconic moments, though reimagined and served with a fresh dose of self-awareness.

Take the musical's “The One Where We Make a Million Dollars an Episode,” for example, because yes — Jennifer Aniston and company made a cool $1 million per episode in the final seasons. Or "495 Grove Street," a little number that begs the audience to "suspend disbelief" when taking into account Monica's spacious and totally unaffordable apartment. And how the hell did six randoms manage to reserve a couch in a bustling coffee shop every day for 10 years, anyway?

FRIENDS! The Musical Parody will be performed at Detroit's City Theatre Feb. 6-10. Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. for $30 via 313presents.com.
