Last year, we noted the arrival of a new app for Belle Isle
that acts as a digital tour guide, with crisply recorded narration that offers so much history even a buff might learn a thing or two.

Well, now the company has just released its second free audio tour, "Exploring Detroit’s Sculptures and Monuments: Hart Plaza to Campus Martius” and it's just as impressive. Smartphone users can be guided on a two-hour walking tour shedding light on the origins, meanings, and details about 23 downtown artifacts. As with Audio-D’s first audio guide, radio veteran Dick Shafran does the narration, presenting engaging perspectives on Detroit’s history, all while guiding you with the aid of your cellphone’s GPS.

There are two ways to experience the tour. You can get the full experience by downloading the app and exploring the guided tour in person. But if you want just a taste or simply can't be there in person, Audio-D has set up special versions of its tours online.

Links to the free app and web tours are at audioDtours.com.
