For more than 30 years, Michigan Central Station sat vacant, eerily standing guard overlooking Detroit's Corktown neighborhood.
When Ford bought the train station this past summer — for the recently disclosed price of $90 million — many Detroiters were excited at the possibility that the building's beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture would finally see new life. Before Ford plans to redevelop the area for its new headquarters, however, it's going to (trick or) treat Detroiters to a haunted house.
For one day only this Halloween season, Ford will turn the depot's first floor into a haunted house. The exact date of the haunted house has not been revealed, according to Crain's Detroit, but a decision is expected later this week. The budget for the event has not been determined, but the money will come out of the Ford Motor Company Fund whose focus is to provide community services.
Ford expects a large turnout for the haunted house, which will be free to the public, but plans to give priority
