In its seventh year, the ultimate competition of stamina and floatability — “Once Around Belle Isle” — will return to the international waters of the Detroit River. Each year, OABI invites stand-up paddle boarders, kayakers, and surf-skiers to partake in a 7-mile natural and non-buoyed race course around Belle Isle. A 2.5 mile course is available for those looking for a shorter challenge, and paddlerama classes will be offered for stand-up paddle board beginners. If sitting shoreside is more your vibe, you can always watch the race and get lit at the Tito’s all-day beach party and concert, where everyone is a winner.

Race begins at 10 a.m. at Belle Isle; oabidetroit.com; To participate in the 2.5- or 7-mile race, registration is $75-$90, and Tito’s Beach Party and Concert tickets are $25-$90.
