Deep Freud comics

Everybody’s got problems; it’s fixing them that’s the tricky part. I thought I might be able to find a few answers in the comic book People Searching for Peace of Mind through ... PSYCHOANALYSIS (at Dave’s Comics for $2.50). This is actually an EC Comics series from the 1950s reprinted by Gemstone Publishing. Each issue features a few sessions in the ongoing Freudian-based therapy of such disturbed fellows as teenager Freddy Carter, who is torn between the world of arts and literature that his loving mother favors, and the unwanted career in engineering demanded by his stern father. Unfortunately, comic books tend to be like hip hop, in that both are mediums capable of unlimited creative expression, too often hindered by their juvenile, repetitive content.
