Call for Art: Ink. 2 Detroit is looking for art and artists

Tattoos are a form of art. Now more mainstream than ever, the practice of permanently imbuing ink into a person's skin is part of our culture, lifestyle, and even history. Ink. 2 Detroit is an art show that hopes to celebrate the beauty of tattooing and being tattooed.

Local, national, and international artists are asked to submit two and three dimensional works of art that can be anything from a painting to a photo to a sculpture. Up the five pieces may be submitted for consideration.

Artists are asked to include their name, the title of their piece, size and price for each piece, which should be submitted as JPeg files. The gallery plans to keep a 35 percent commission of every piece sold, so artists are encouraged to consider that when pricing their pieces. Artists will also be required to pay a $15 participation fee upon their acceptance into the show.

Deadline for all submissions is Sunday, April 10 at midnight. Artists will be notified if they have been selected for the show by Saturday, April 20. Submissions can be sent to [email protected] with the subject line "Submission."

Ink. 2 Detroit will take place on June 5 and 6 and the Tangent Gallery.
