Remember when Aretha Franklin sang the National Anthem at the Lions game on Thanksgiving last year and your uncle complained about her voice and the length of her performance, quickly
followed by the internet?
Well, haters, the time has come for you to sit down, because I invite you to watch this video of Aretha Franklin singing her classic hit "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" last Wednesday at a tribute concert for Clive Davis.
Aretha gave a stunning performance of the Carole King/Gerry Goffin-penned track that puts all the doubts to rest. Franklin has never lost it, and we are so thankful for that.
Franklin gave a touching speech about Clive Davis, who was being honored for the premiere of a new documentary about his life called
Clive Davis: The Soundtrack To Our Lives.
"What a wonderful, caring, caring humanitarian," the singer said. "He's not only the chieftain who sits in the executive office and takes care of all the business; he takes care of his artists as well."
Franklin's performance was followed by appearances by Jennifer Hudson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, and Dionne Warwick. You can watch all the performances
