Though afrofuturism most recently saw a mainstream resurgence via Marvel’s blockbuster Black Panther, the cultural artistic movement has roots going as far back as the 1950s.
One of the students and now acclaimed and seminal artists of the philosophy is Kenyan award-winning photographer and digital creator Osborne Macharia. As part of the Penny Stamp Speaker Series, Osborne will be joined by collaborator and TED Fellow Blinky Bill Sellanga to discuss their recent project, Remember The Rude Boy, a fictional narrative that celebrates black fatherhood and mentorship within the community.
