For one woman, that meant a truly one-of-a-kind dress — made entirely out of Metro Times.
On Tuesday night, the Fox Theatre hosted the world premiere of director Kathryn Bigelow's 1967 drama Detroit. Michelle Cohl — an actress, model, singer, and extra in the movie — was spotted on the red carpet wearing a dress made out of last week's issue of MT, which featured an oral history of the 1967 uprising.
The dress was made by Matthew Richmond, who has made a name for himself for his fanciful paper dress creations.
Bigelow was in attendance, as well as stars John Boyega, Algee Smith, Kaitlin Dever, and Will Poulter, among others. The theater was also packed with plenty of Detroiters, including Mayor Mike Duggan.
Detroit opens nationally Aug. 4. Look for a review coming up in MT.
