1xRun and Inner State Gallery to relocate to Heidelberg Project area, host art sale

After five years in Eastern Market, art print house 1xRun and its Inner State Gallery are relocating to a larger building located near the Heidelberg Project.

"Over the last seven years 1xRun has and have grown into the world’s leading publisher of fine art editions with nearly 2,000 limited edition releases since 2011, and a larger building and warehouse space will allow for the continued growth of 1xRun fine art publishing business well into the next decade," the company said in a statement.

According to a Sunday interview with the Detroit Free Press, co-owners Dan Armand and Jesse Cory sold the three-story building located at 1410 Gratiot Ave. to a developer in June for $1.2 million. (1xRun purchased it in 2013 for $400,000.)

The company will move into the former Beyster Lumber building located at 2905 Beaufait, which 1xRun says is nearly four times the size of their Eastern Market operations. The Beaufait building is located blocks away from artist Tyree Guyton's outdoor art installation the Heidelburg Project — and the move comes at a time that the Heidelberg Project is in the midst of a transformation from a sprawling outdoor found art installation to a museum and art community.

As part of the move, 1xRun has announced a series of retrospectives and a moving sale. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, the Inner State Gallery will host an opening party for Last Call, its final exhibition and a retrospective of work from the past five years. According to a press release, it is set to feature original artwork, sketches, test proofs from our artists in residency program, and "tons more" that will be available publicly for the first time.

The gallery will also host its annual Holiday Market on Nov. 18, Nov. 25, and Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Last Call will have an opening party on Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
