Earlier this week we took a look at how Packard Detroit’s artisanal handcrafted Coney Dogs are literally the only hope
for Detroit's long-promised rise from the ashes. However, further research reveals that Packard is not the first time Detroit's renaissance has been proposed via hot dogs. Enter the Detroit Wienerssance Center
, an ambitious plan to encase the Reinaissance Center in a hot dog facade not unlike an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. It's unclear why the project never took off, but this promotional video from last year offers a conceptual artist rendering of the skyline that could have been and a look at how Detroit's economy might have been rejuvenated.
