Jelly Adams is a piano/bass/drums power trio that has been hard at work in Detroit for the past two years. Formed in 2002, the band is comprised of Bob Mervak (piano/lead vocals), Takashi Iio (Bass/background vocals), and Adam James (Drums/background vocals). All have been hard working jazz musicians for a number of years playing various freelance and studio gigs in the area with some very well known artists. Jelly Adams brings these three diverse musicians together in an environment that is fresh and new to all three and showcases their individual creativity as well as their unparalleled chemistry as band mates. Jelly Adams grinds out a high energy style in the Jazz/Funk/Rock idiom and puts on a killer live show, winning over audiences at some of Detroit's best venues including Memphis Smoke, Woodruff's, The Berkley Front, Seven Brothers Bar, as well as several others. Original compositions as well as creative covers echo the influences of Ben Folds, Randy Newman, and Martin Sexton. The trio members have worked with such groups as The Mega 80's, The Articles, Iris, The Lolita Trio, Dan Pliskow, Don Mayberry, Larry Nozero, Audima, Ryan Mackstaller, Level Jumpers, Tone and Niche, Grace, Damani Phillips, The Bob Mervak Group, etc.
