"All great jazz music is alive – full of the inexplicable spirit that is expressed in any particular moment’s eruption of dance, laughter, thought, struggle and/or song. A universal expression that transcends all barriers of language, class and race. Sean Blackman and John Arnold have cultivated this spirit in their music – a dramatic and rhythmic fusion of traditional and non-traditional elements from all over the world.

This music bridges the gap between and connects cultures and peoples that have suffered upheaval and dispersion, yet manage to survive and thrive due to their tenacious strength, unity and adaptability. It is an improvisational jourey to a place where Spanish, West African, Armenian, Middle Eastern, Gypsy and Indian sounds coexist harmoniously with that of the North, Central and South Americas in a gala celebration of life.

Yes, this music is alive with that spirit. It is truly great jazz."
