With a sound described as "Alison Krauss & Union Station meets Barenaked Ladies", Tangerine Trousers won the 2003 Detroit Music Award for 'Outstanding Folk Artist/Group' and the 2004 DMA's for 'Oustanding Acoustic Group' and 'Oustanding Acoustic/Folk Recording' for thier 'Dressed for Success' CD. The Trousers weave together incredible vocal harmonies and infectious pop sensibility in their innovative approach to Americana music.
The group was formed in Detroit around the husband-wife songwriting team of John & CJ Milroy, and has released three CD's to date, garnering numerous "Best of" awards, along with national press from the likes of Performing Songwriter and No Depression magazines.
Their latest CD, Dressed for Success, features ten original songs in the group’s patented folk-rockoustic style: mixing contemporary folk with elements of pop, country, and other musical traditions. Recorded in Chapel Hill, NC, and Ann Arbor, MI, 'Dressed for Success' attracted guest contributions from some of the hottest names in roots-flavored alternative music today, including Caitlin Cary, Thad Cockrell, and John Keane, along with production help from Chris Stamey.
