Death by Accordion originates from Southeast Michigan. Its four (sometimes five) band members provide traditional Irish Pub music, along with a good mix of rebel songs and ballads. The acoustic drive is provided by guitar, bass and fiddle, with accents of whistle, mandolin, Bodhran, and, of course accordion.
The husband-wife team of Bob and Ellen Doster takes on the lead vocals and harmony duties. Bob Mariatti is the resident fiddler and mando player. Tex Ragsdale lends the bass line and back up vocals.
The name began as a joke onstage, but stuck when a club owner said it was the only band name he remembered. Marketing whizzes that they are, the band immediately adopted it. The onstage accordion jokes continue…but, as always, the music is the main thing.
DBA encourages sing-alongs and often incites a fully-interactive performance. It’s a semi-lethal dose of fun and music for all ages!
