The Hard Lessons want to teach you something about Rock N' Roll.
Fronted by Detroit’s modern incarnation of Ike and Tina, and backed by a drummer whose diminutive stature is in direct contrast to his raucous power, The Hard Lessons come on like an unexpected face-slap. With a debut 45 under their belts, as well as an impressive string of shows with The Paybacks, The Sights, Modey Lemon, The Von Bondies, The Detroit Cobras and The Dirtbombs, The Hard Lessons began work on a full-length record with producer Zach Shipps (Electric Six) and headed into Jim Diamond’s Ghetto Recorders in June. The resulting chaotic rock songs and sweltering ballads splice the best bits of 1960’s garage with the soul-baring swagger of the Stax/Volt roster. A scandalous live show has made devoted fans out of the local glitterati and press corps in each new city they play. Get out a pad and paper. Class is in session.
