The elements of Detroit's pop ensemble, PAS/CAL, can be summed up as follows: An appreciation for beauty, a wry, sarcastic sense of humor, a friendly handshake to the songwriters of old who crafted their timeless compositions with meticulous care, summer evenings on the bear ride at the carnival, kissing the boy or girl you love high above the cityscape. Furthermore, their members include a band of unlikely misfits and oddballs: Casimer Pascal [crooner, unrelenting romantic], Gene Corduroy [strummer, keen sense of texture and balance], Little Tommy Daniels [crash, bang, etc., longs for simpler times], Nathaniel Burgundy IV [bottom-end, loves flowers and color], Bem [crystalline accompaniment, loves a good laugh], and Richard Panic [buttons, knobs, keys, etc., always nervous]. The misshaped puzzle pieces have been putting together a unique brand of pop and roll music since November of 2000 when an odd electrical storm suddenly made Casimer's portable stereo sing out Scott Walker's rendition of "The Old Man's Back Again". Since that moment the group has been striving to become that electrical storm, transforming ordinary moments into instances of perverted splendor and carelessly careful charm.
