Using ordinary objects or events as catalyst for his introverted art-based science experiments, Karolski's creative sensibility has evolved out of his physical/visual art making process.
'I spent a great deal of time attached to a portable cassette recorder used for diary purposes attempting to capture conversations, experiences, numerous moments of my life. My early obsession with recording grew out of a fear of losing that time that was passing. Reflecting on my recorded life ultimately was very beneficial. Reinterpreting the fragmented perception of my everyday revealed things, things that are a foundation for my recent sound-based work. This marked the beginning of my creative relationship with audio recording equipment, I just wasn't aware of it then.'
Jeff's live performances reveal their construction as they're created. This self-conscious attempt to draw listeners in is Jeff's hook to share his process-driven work with his audience."
