"Taking his cues from the rich tradition of Detroit techno, Richard Panic marries electronic music with early '80s New Wave, creating a sound that is both current and also reminiscent of a not-too-distant past. Leopard Pillow is Panic's debut 12" -- "The A-Side" being an infectious and engaging pop song, "Midnight Drive" a more driving, up-tempo track, and "Calmer" being straight-up instrumental techno. Richard Panic combines analog synthesizers and drum machines with electric guitars and vocals (somewhat reminiscent of Brit Pop stars past and present). He is an inegmatic character who, live, always appears behind a curtain. The attempt to conceal his identity is a statement about the position of the Rock Star, allowing the audience to create an image within their own imaginations. Like all Spectator releases, the artwork of the Leopard Pillow 12" is both slick and eye-catching, featuring a female model seated on a couch. Panic plans to spend 2000 playing shows in Detroit, writing material and recording, with more 12-inches to be released in the near future." from Specator Records' Web page
