"The Sights have a sound that could best be described as high-energy, up-tempo pop. Drawing on influences such as Beatles and early Pink Floyd-era psychedelia, American soul, and a hint of R&B, their music is both frenetic and engaging. The Sights are guitarist Eddie Baranek, bassist Mark Leahey, drummer Dave Shettler, and Nate Cavalieri on organ. All share songwriting and vocal duties. Eddie and Mark have been playing music together since the age of 13, forming The Sights and playing their first shows in early 1998. In the past year, The Sights have appeared on Channel 56’s Backstage Pass and Willy Wilson’s program on WDET, recording songs at each station’s studio. They've also performed at numerous Detroit venues, gaining the respect and support of audiences ranging from garage rock to indie. All of this belies the band’s youth. Eddie and Mark are 20 and 19 respectively, and have just recently begun college. While some might see The Sights’ age as a hindrance, their talent, knowledge of musical history, and intensity has proven the band to be both legitimate and exciting. n March 2001, The Sights finished recording their debut full-length, Are You Green?, at Jim Diamond’s studio in Detroit. Thirteen tracks of instantly catchy music that stays in your head for days, Are You Green? is now being distributed by Fall of Rome Records. A brand-new album, Got What We Want is scheduled for release in the summer of 2002."
