Taking the reins

David Jost will be the first to admit that he’s got a lot to learn about Detroit, which is why staffers here have been inundating him with advice and local lore.

But the new MT publisher is clear about what we stand for.

"The Metro Times is a newspaper with a strong reputation for editorial excellence," said Jost. "For 20 years, Metro Times has been an indispensable source of news, arts and entertainment information, and has become an essential marketing tool for advertisers."

Jost, 35, and his wife Cindy, come to us from Minneapolis where he was business development manager at WCCO-TV, a CBS-owned station. Previous to that he was advertising director of CityBusiness, the Business Journal, and national advertising manager at City Pages, the Alternative News & Arts Weekly of the Twin Cities.

The Josts are searching for a home in the Detroit area. David, who holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota, enjoys boating and running road races. Don't expect to see him running marathons anytime soon, he says. The 10K distance is fine for now.
