“Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Friends” may sounds like a hokey act for kids, but when you consider the fact that Gabrel’s former artistic partner was David Bowie and that he is currently the lead guitarist for the Cure, the name takes on a new weight. Instead of furry costumes, you’ll see Gabrels perform trippy reinterpretations of blues and rock classics such as Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love” and Jimmy Reed’s “Bright Lights, Big City,” as well as his own Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitar improvisations and lyrical mind-benders.
