Sure, OABI sounds like some Hawaiian work like "aloha" or "mahalo," but truthfully, it just stands for "Once Around Belle Isle," which is a new festival being held on the sandy shoes of the Belle Isle Beach. This is the first-ever Detroit fest of its kind, complete with live entertainment, craft brews, food trucks, and stand-up paddle board activities. For those with no previous experience, there will be several on-site demonstrations where you can check out new paddle boards and kayaks. Daring paddlers, be sure to join the seven-mile race around the island. Festivities run from 10 am to 8 pm.
