It seems fitting that Mario Batali’s two teenage sons — also cooks and authors — are following in their legendary father’s footsteps. The Batali Brothers Cookbook (Ecco, $14.99) by Leo Batali and Benno Batali, supply a number of recipes that are uncomplicated and appetizing like the kale salad, Caprese with multi-colored heirloom tomatoes or triple p salad – peas, potatoes and pesto – will each holdup to summer’s heat. They make terrific sides for Mario’s grilled lamb chops. Try the boys’ blackberry and peach cobbler for a seasonal dessert.
