Dropping inn

This week’s abandoned structure has really gone to the dogs. The residence at 13903 Manning in northeast Detroit and its surroundings suggest that at least one pooch has taken up residence — there’s a dreadful amount of doo-doo. A look inside reveals everything from dirty children’s clothes to a seemingly unbroken and strangely enticing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles umbrella. The house seems structurally intact but the garage appears to have suffered fire damage. Neighbors say the building has been boarded up for at least two years but has not housed any illegal activity. According to the last recorded taxable owner, Ramona Underwood of Romulus, the house was sold to R.E. Investments Inc. of Southfield. The city assessed the 64-year-old structure at $23,600 in 2002.
