Labatt Prohibition Series
A new addition to the Labatt family of beers, the Prohibition Series celebrates a time when drinking was illegal in the U. S. of A., but Labatt still kept thirty Americans satiated with cold, crisp beer. In order to honor that heritage, the company has created a series of quality sessionable beers that make drinkers feel like they’re back in the roaring ‘20s. Labatt will be celebrating this new series with local “underground samplings” this October through December, culminating in a special Repeal’s Day party on Dec. 5.
Bourbon Barrel Ale
Available in both six and 12 packs, these 12-ounce bottles are filled with a robust ale with a bourbon flavor and a smooth finish. It’s malty and sweet, balanced by noble hop aromas with notes of vanilla and oak. The light golden brew pours nicely, with a nice white, foamy head, but drinkers will probably enjoy this brew better out of its stout brown bottle, a throwback style that harkens back to the era this brew serves to celebrate. A beer for the whiskey lover, this brew rings in at 6 percent ABV, which warms both the brain and the belly.
Apple Harvest Ale
Not to be confused with a cider, the Apple Harvest Ale proves itself a beer through its six-row malt and Appollo hops that meet with Honeycrisp apples to make a uniquely drinkable brew that’s both dry and crisp. It’s a 6 percent ABV beer, much like its sibling the Bourbon Barrel Ale, giving it an edge over lighter pilsners, lagers, and even ales. Perfect for fall, Apple Harvest Ale can be as much enjoyed around a roaring bonfire as around the poker table.
