The Gone Girl of its day, Double Indemnity has lost none of its original luster. Billy Wilder’s brilliantly-lit noir is a Raymond Chandler adaptation of James M. Cain, and it packs enough star power with principles Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray, and Edward G. Robinson alone to propel itself through multiple double crosses and unexpected gunshots. You’ll never hear the words “goodbye, baby” the same after seeing this.
