Walk into Bistro Bourdeau and you have walked into another world. Proprietors Kipp and Susan Bourdeau opened the doors to their 212-seat bistro on January 9, 2001. The completely remodeled restaurant (formerly Patrick's) has been getting rave reviews on the new interior, menu and service. Executive Chef Kipp Bourdeau, a Culinary Institute of America graduate and former chef at the five star, five diamond Cloister Hotel in Sea Island, Georgia brings many of his past experiences to the innovative bistro-style cuisine. Dishes such as andouille-crusted whitefish with sauteed spinich and grain mustard vinaigrette as well as grilled mahi mahi with carmelized oranges and lobster-shrimp potato hash show off a bit of regional style in American cooking. Susan Bourdeau worked her way through the Ritz-Carlton chain, opening up restaurants in Washington D.C. and Hawaii. It becomes obvious that she takes her training to heart. Bistro Bourdeau, after being open for only a short time, has already gained a reputation for outstanding service. When you walk into this married couple's new restaurant, you truly feel you have made the right choice. Entertainment from the piano deck fills the dining room Thursday through Saturday with live piano music. On Monday, guests enjoy the sounds of old Detroit with the jazzy Jo Grandy Trio from 6:30-9:30 pm, and on Tuesdays, enjoy classical guitarist Peter Sarfati. The decor is very inviting and the circle-in-a-square dining room offers many oppertunities for privacy.
