Marble Bar

1501 Holden St., Detroit; 313-338-3674

Step inside this unassuming corner spot, and you'll find quite a different world inside. It's not as dramatic as stepping inside a Tardis, but they've got a state-of-the-art sound system here that is the envy of venues twice its size. A lot of expense went into refurbishing the upstairs wooden balcony, and that marble floor the spot gets its name from is very nice. Drinks are reasonable, and the booking (mostly within the realm of underground rock music) has been very strong in its first year of existence; here's to many more years of success. Check Marble's Facebook page to keep track of their shows.
