Bon Bon Bon's Alexandra Clark makes Forbes' '30 Under 30' list

We knew Hamtramck's favorite chocolate maker would be up to big things when she opened her tiny shop/chocolate factory last year. Apparently, we were in on to something because Forbes caught on as well and has named chocolatier Alexandra Clark in its annual "30 Under 30" list.

Under the food and drink category, the business magazine says of Clark, 27 that "when it came time to open her own shop, she wanted it in no place other than Detroit, her home town. Bon Bon Bon, which now has three locations across the city, is the first artisan chocolatier to come to the Motor City in 40 years."

OK, so technically, Hamtramck is its own thing, not Detroit, and there are other local craft confectioners (like Pete's Chocolate Co., makers of hand-rolled truffles, for example), but these are fairly forgivable details to overlook, considering Clark's fast track ascension to national popularity.

Clark has banked some serious dues before she opened her first location, a one-day-a-week retail space that doubled as her main source of production, on Evaline, just behind the Hamtramck Coney Island (she's also got a retail space in the Dime Building downtown and has been selling out of the Katoi popup in Ann Arbor since the summer).

Forbes is not the only major publication that's become a fan of Clark and crew's work. Martha Stewart has also been championing the little chocolate shop that could. Under the felonious tastemaker's guidance, Bon Bon Bon has gotten quite a bit of buzz as a leader in the craft makers movement.
