UPDATE: Spin University, contrary to what I initially wrote, has nothing to do with SPIN magazine. (Though why use the SPIN logo and the word "spin" if you're an entirely new entity, I don't know). Spin University is supposedly a non-profit "Detroit community based program design to provide Djing and Music Production for children, preteens and adults." Tickets are available herethey are $35 plus service charges.

Today a press release from one week ago was forwarded to me. And while it misspells Afrika Bambaataa's last name, dude's last name is Bambaataa. Our biggest question is: When they say Sharivari is performing, I wonder if they mean the original artists behind that song, A Number of Names? Is Number of Names on the retro circuit?

This definitely looks like fun. Mark it on your calendar. Full press releases follows.
