PETA isn't going to run some billboards in Detroit

Earlier today we got a phone call from a husky-voiced PETA representative to inform us that PETA isn't going to run billboard ads with the slogan, "Has your meat been molested?" in Detroit.

According to a press release, the controversial animal rights organization had planned to roll out the new ad campaign in the city, but decided to cancel it after discovering that two Detroit teachers have been charged with sexual misconduct.

While the teachers were not named in the press release, DPS teacher Zachary Taylor was arraigned on March 10, facing six charges including accosting a minor. Kathryn Ronk, a Madison Heights high school teacher, is facing two counts of third-degree criminal and a Chippewa Valley High School teacher was also charged with sexual misconduct after allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old student

According to PETA's website, the ad would have featured a "factory-farmed pig's face" alongside the catchy slogan, "Has your meat been molested?"

“We wanted people to know that shocking sexual abuse of animals raised and killed for food has been uncovered thanks to whistleblowers,” says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. “PETA will pull the ad, but we still urge everyone to prevent animals from enduring pain and torment by going vegan.”

But, they're not going to run the ads because of those teachers and their acts. But, they would have run the ads if not for the teachers, even though victims of molestation would have surely still have existed.
