Michigan bill would raise speed limit to 80 mph on freeways

Last week, State. Rep. Brad Jacobsen (R-Oxford) introduced a bill that would increase the speed limit on some of the state's freeways by 10 miles per hour, according to WWJ-FM 950
Jacobsen's bill, HB 5964
, specifies that roads called "rural limited access freeways" would experience the increase — that is, any road designated by the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Michigan State Police "to be rural in nature," WXYZ Channel 7 says
The bill was introduced on Nov. 13 and was referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. WXYZ
says the full House will likely consider the bill next month.
