A band featuring members of the Detroit bands Superbomb, Remnose, and DandyLyon Whine will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nirvana’s Bleach album by playing it in its entirety at Small’s in Hamtramck on June 14 Doors are at 9 p.m. and cover is $6.

The musicians, Greg Aubry, Brandon Frye, Jeremy Otto, Marlon Morton, played In Utero in full last September. "You do it because it's fun", says singer Greg Aubry. "A lot of bands are afraid to touch the material, which makes it a challenge. Maybe they have more good sense than we do. The material so much more raw than what Nirvana did later, which is also cool."

Fittingly, a Mudhoney cover band featuring members of The Bored Housewives, Red China, Pupils and Pthalo Sky will open the show.

It’s weird to think that Nirvana’s debut album is now 25 years old, that it was recorded at the tail end of the ’90s, but that is the case. The album failed to chart when it was initially released, but it did much better when it was re-released following the massive success of Nevermind.

It’ll be interesting to see what a group of local musos can do with songs like “Love Buzz,” and “Negative Creep.”
